Demineralization (DM) is the process of removing minerals and salts, like cations (sodium, calcium, iron, copper) and anions (chloride, sulfate, nitrate) from water using these methods:
• Ion Exchange (Cation- Anion- Mixed Bed) Treatment
• Membrane Filtration (Like Reverse Osmosis followed by MB)
• Electro Delonisation (EDI)- RO+ EDI
• Distillation / Evaporation Ion Exchange: DM Water has typical conductivity <30 mhos/cm. Deionized (DI) Water, even purer, is achieved with a Mixed Bed (MB) or Electro De-Ionization (EDI). MB-based DI water has conductivity <5 mhos/cm, while EDI-based DI water has conductivity <0.5 mhos/cm.
